The Holy Spirit, our Helper, the Spirit of Truth

Luke 11:13: "If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven, give the Holy Spirit (the Helper), to those who ask him"

Before we asked God to send us the Holy Spirit (the Helper & Spirit of Truth), we unconsciously believed our 'old self' (spirits of fear, despair, anger, guilt, hate, etc).  But now that we have God the Holy Spirit in us, the Spirit of Truth, we know these negative Spirits are lies. What's the significance? This implies that thoughts & feelings are 100% meaningless, until they are first assessed (held captive) for truthfulness by our 'conscious will' self, aided unknowingly by the Holy Spirit in us. If they're false (ex. fear, anger, hate, guilt, etc.), we know they are not us. Their origin is the 'old man-false' self, as scripture implies.  We then g-e -n-t-l-y respond to false ones, with God's Word (the Truth).  Transformation of our beings, from the 'old man to the new man', is a life-long journey. So, not only are we gentle on ourselves, but, others as well.
