Healing truth: experiencing dark nights isn't easy, but being MADE NEW, brings blessings
As our senses become more and more withdrawn, from an inordinate attachment to the things and pleasures of this world, or from disordered attachments to others, an agony may be experienced in the soul. St. John of the Cross speaks of the persevering in the darkness of faith, as the most valuable and proximate means of union with God. Here is what St. Francis De Sales says about it: "This change in your life may cause you many problems. You've bid a great farewell to the world's follies and vanities, and this may bring a feeling of sadness and discouragement. Have patience. Things will seem strange because they are new, but when feelings pass, you will receive countless blessings".
