Needs and wants. The Lord IS my Shepherd.

Needs and wants. The Lord IS my Shepherd.

When we take time to ponder the words from Psalm 23, and meditate on them, it almost makes the spiritual journey sound too easy. Can it really be that easy? Taking the active step to be conscious of what we are thinking and feeling, needs and wants wise, and entrusting them to God's power, plan, and purpose can be quite liberating. As far as needs, scripture says God will provide for all of our needs according to His plan and purpose. However, due to our many years of unconsciously not listening/paying attention to our 'old self's' wanting this and wanting that thoughts, makes it a little challenging to repent, or, change course. These 'normal' remnants of our old man self (and don't beat yourself up because they are normal and will always be a part of our beings) issues thoughts such as: "I want this to change before I can be happy". So much so, that we spend an 'abnormal' part of our waking time trying to control, change, or fix things, and we miss out on enjoying life in the present precious moment. Since God is in control of our needs, we can learn to practice being consciously aware of the I want thoughts, and choose to gently not believe them, because, "The Lord is my Shepherd, there is nothing I shall want". This will lead to peace and present moment living in time.
